The 4 Seasons

Spring is here!  We have two beautiful flowering trees.  Our house is picture perfect!
Here is our house in the fall:
And in the winter of course:
I just need to get a good picture of it during the summer.  Then I plan to have all four side by side, showing the season changes.

Easter Pictures

Playing catch up.

We have been out of town for the past week, so I have a lot of blog catching up to do.  Our Easter was not your typical Easter, instead it was cold, freezing cold!  We had almost a foot of snow on the ground with beautiful blue skies.  The kids woke up to way too much candy.  Then off to church.  When we got home, we took a few pictures .  Then it was to the kitchen for me. My brother, Michael, His girlfriend, Lynette, and a friend from his work came over for Easter dinner. Our menu consisted of: Ham, Turkey Breast, Lamb, Sweet Potato Bake, Potatoes Au Gratin, Garlic Green Beans, Strawberry Spinach Salad, Broccoli Salad, Ambrosia Jello Mold and rolls.  It really was quite a spread!  Anyway, I am not left to cook an entire holiday dinner alone very often.  Either my mom or mother-in-law (or both) is usually here to help.  This Easter, it was just me.  We had set the dinner time for 4:00.  About 3:00, I was stressing!! Mike, Lynette and Michael showed up right on time. Well, right in time to help!  I asked Lynette if she could follow a recipe, she said she would try.  So I gave her the Strawberry Spinach Salad recipe I found online, it seemed easy enough.  It was bagged spinach, cut up strawberries, sliced green onions, toasted almonds, feta cheese, olive oil and white balsamic vinegar.  It doesn't get any easier than that.  I continued with the other 30 things I was working on.  Finally, about 4:45 dinner was on the table.  It really looked great!  To make a long story short, I took a bite of Lynette's salad...it had a very interesting taste.  Kind of soapy.  We all joked about why it could taste like soap.  Did she wash the strawberries and veggies with soap? Did she not rinse the cutting board after washing it?  Did she use palmolive oil?  Needless to say we tossed the salad without anyone taking another bite.  As Lynette and I were washing dishes, I discovered...
...my really cute soap dispenser!  Thanks Jen Harvey for the great idea!  I guess next time I need to use blue dish soap to make it a lot more obvious to a guest chef and to avoid another Soapy Spinach Salad!

Just another snow story...

I will take total responsibility for the snow we received yesterday.  Just yesterday morning, I was telling my friend in California that I thought we were done with snow!  And I even mentioned to her that I might be jinxing Cleveland...and I did!  Yesterday afternoon it started snowing, again! But this snow was my favorite kind, it is the kind that actually sticks to the trees.  Everything just looks so beautiful.  The bad part is that it is wet snow, heavy to shovel and messy.  I took a couple of pictures this morning.

St. Patrick's Day

I am a few days late, but isn't that the story of my blog?  We decided that we wanted to make corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick's Day.  Well...I never made it to the store to buy it.  So instead this is what we had:
We did have corned beef and cabbage on Tuesday...salty is all I can say about that!  I much preferred the Filet Mignon, green mashed potatoes and green beans!

5 green and speckled frogs!

I decided four days a week without Dru at home with me was not enough, so I found a class for her on Mondays!  (Am I a bad mom?)  I also convinced Amanda that she does not have enough mornings without Dillon either, so she enrolled him too!  This class, "A-Makin' and A-Takin', A-Movin' and A-Groovin" is offered at the Beachwood rec center Monday mornings from 10:30-12:30.  Dru doesn't like getting dropped off, but she always has fun once she is there.  This past Monday the theme was frogs.  When they arrive, there is always something to play with on the table.  This week there were frog finger puppets, so I was entertained by the Dru and Dillon Frog Puppet Show!
Here is Dru hiding behind the table with one frog:  Here is Dillon with lots of frogs!
After the table time at the beginning they make a craft, sticking with the frog theme, they made little frogs, they turned out so cute!  My preschoolers will be making these next week for our frog week!
I also wanted to add, that I really enrolled Dru to help her get ready for next year.  She has a really hard time adjusting to new unfamiliar places and situations.  I try to get her leave my side as much as possible since we only have about 6 months left until kindergarten!!!

Macho, macho man!

A couple of nights ago, before going to bed.  Tyler came down stairs and wanted to show us his muscles.  It was a pretty funny show for Brett and I!  I asked Tyler if I could take some pictures, he agreed...little did he know they would end up on the internet!  I think this is the ultimate blackmail picture!  Hippie hair, boxers, willingness to do this in front of a camera!  Here are a couple of his poses: (don't ask about the face he was making, I think it helped him feel stronger.  Just imagine him groaning "EERRRG!" while striking a pose.)

Annie? Shirley Temple? Dru?

Awhile back my mom bought my girls sponge rollers for their hair.  They are great, they hold the shortest finest hair ever!  When she bought them Dru really wanted curly hair and wanted my mom to fix her hair for her.  So my mom spent probably about 30 minutes rolling her hair, only for her to go upstairs and take out all of the rollers.  I am not that willing to roller her hair knowing she will just take them out 5 minutes later.  Until Thursday night.  Dru took a shower and asked me to put the curlers in her hair so I did.  Here is what she looked like when we finished.

She was a super sport and left them in all night!  Friday mo
rning, she took all the rollers out by herself.  She came downstairs dressed and ready to go.  She looked so darn cute!  The only problem was that she wouldn't let me pick it out.  Everyone at her school loved her new look and she loved making her curls bounce!  A side note, she is really conscience about blinking for a picture, hence the really big eyes to make sure she doesn't blink!

Lamborn blog: Take two!

So, obviously I am a better stalker than I am a blogger.  I have been very faithful reading everyone else's blog, and not quite so faithful to updating my own blog.  I would like to say it was because time in the Lamborn house actually just stopped and we think today is actually December 10th.  Or maybe I could tell you that it just got so cold here in Cleveland that we all just decided to hibernate like bears.  Or just the truth, I lost interest, I lost motivation, and it became so long since my last post, I felt silly starting again.  Well, I will give it another try.  So here is Lamborn Family Blog: take two!
